Overview

We recommend Special Markets Insurance Consultants (SMIC) for obtaining coverage for your special events/non-sports insurance requirements. SMIC provides short-term general liability coverage for a wide range of one-time and short-terms events. Please either click the “Apply Now” button or select one of the pdf applications in the blue boxes to apply for coverage. The following are examples of events covered under the program:

Please note, your venue owner is not automatically listed as an “Additional Insured” — you must choose this option during the application process.

General Liability Insurance:
 Provides protection to the named insured, including volunteers and employees, for bodily injury and property damage claims arising from the inherent risks involved with operating special events.

Liquor Liability Insurance: 
If you are hosting an event and selling alcohol or charging admissions and serving alcohol, supplemental coverage is required at an additional cost. To request a quote, click here.

If your contract requires you to obtain abuse and molestation coverage please complete the applicable application to receive a quote through SMIC.

Sports

We recommend Special Markets Insurance Consultants (SMIC) for obtaining coverage for your youth and adult sports teams' & leagues' insurance requirements. SMIC provides short-term general liability coverage and accident medical coverage for your event or activity. Three years of historical claims and premium information are required to obtain a quote. Please download the fillable pdf application for Sports Teams & Leagues found in the blue box to the right; the online quote is not available for these events. Accident Medical Insurance:
 This program protects all insured participants of the activities. Coverage protects individuals while participating in the insured organization’s activities and traveling to, during or after such activities as a member of a group in transportation furnished or arranged by the Policyholder. To apply for a quote, select the fillable pdf application for Sports Teams & Leagues; Accident Medical is required for all sports/teams and leagues in addition to any other coverage desired.

Participants Legal Liability
 provides coverage for claims you are legally obligated to pay because of actions brought against you, the Named Insured, by players and/or other participant(s). Participant means any player, coach, manager, staff member, team worker, official, media personnel, cheerleader, or band member practicing for, or participating in, the sporting event. This means all of your team members and players and any participating non-members! Participant liability insurance, like all liability policies, would provide coverage to the injured party only if the tenant user were liable.

You must also have a Waiver and Release form system that is regularly maintained. This system must secure and maintain properly executed Waiver and Release forms for all participants. For minor participants (under eighteen years of age) you must always secure and maintain properly executed Minor Waiver and Release forms signed by the parent or legal guardian.

FAQs

  • What type of insurance do I need?

    SMIC’s general liability and accident medical programs cover a wide variety of sports activities and non-sports special events. Accident medical insurance is only required when there is an athletic activity exposure.

  • How long will it take to receive a quote?

    A. For special events, you can get a real-time quote 


    B. For sports teams and leagues, as well as sports camps and clinics, you can expect to receive a quote within 48 hours to 5 business days from the time SMIC has received a fully completed application. SMIC cannot guarantee a quick turnaround quote for partially completed applications due to the additional communication.

  • How do I purchase insurance after receiving a quote?

    A. For special events, you can purchase the insurance online 


    B. For sports teams and leagues, along with camps and clinics, please send SMIC a request to bind coverage in writing (email will do just fine).

  • When will I receive my Certificate?

    Once SMIC has received the request to bind and proper payment of premium, a certificate will be issued within 24-48 hours.
